Why we built it
Roadmaps are one of the best ways to learn a new skill or plan a project: they show where you are, where you are going and what comes next. But most tools for making them either lock you into a fixed set of public roadmaps, or ask you to sign up, pay and upload your plans to someone else’s server before you can draw a single box.
We wanted something simpler: open a page, start building, and share the result with a link. freeroadmaps is that tool — a free, browser-based editor for developer roadmaps, product roadmaps, strategic roadmaps and learning paths.
What makes it different
- No account. There is nothing to sign up for. You can start building in seconds.
- Private by design. Your roadmaps are saved in your own browser’s local storage. We don’t run a database of user roadmaps, so there is nothing of yours on our servers to leak or sell.
- Links that carry the data. A share link contains the compressed roadmap itself, in the part of the URL that browsers never send to a server.
- Free, with no watermark. Unlimited roadmaps, plus PNG, SVG and JSON exports.
Who it’s for
Learners use it to map out a frontend, backend or full stack developer roadmap and track their progress topic by topic. Teams use it to share product and strategic roadmaps with stakeholders who don’t live in a project tracker. Teachers and mentors use it to lay out a course, attach readings and videos to each lesson and send students a single link.
Independent and open
freeroadmaps is an independent project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by roadmap.sh, GitHub, Atlassian or any other company whose products are mentioned on this site.
